Connecting the Dopamine Burnout Dots
Lately, I've been in a slump; in a valley of malaise, with regard to moving forward per my goal of learning Python and related other coding technologies (Old Man Learns to Code alas no more?).
As shown in the image to the right, I'm currently stepping up to Object Oriented Programming level...
Why?
Have I hit total burnout?
No.
It turns out that loss over time of one's sense of anticipation, excitement and motivation is quite natural. It's simply that expectation of surprise is no longer there. And therefore there are no large dopamine kicks to keep one rushing forward to the next step up the learning curve.
Instead there is the dread of not being able to master the next level. (FOF: Fear of Failure)
As shown in the image to the right, I'm currently stepping up to Object Oriented Programming level...
